The key fob for your Volkswagen is designed to last for the lifetime of your vehicle. However, there will come a day you find your battery dead. This presents you with a challenging situation if you want to get into your vehicle in a hurry. Luckily, there are some steps you can take to access your vehicle.

Here are three ways that would allow you to access your car based on the Volkswagen model that you have.

Volkswagen Models with a Lock Cylinder Cap

If you have a Volkswagen model with a cap covering the lock cylinder that's located on the door handle, you will need to place your key underneath the notch located at the very bottom of the cylinder. You can pop off the cap for access to the lock.

Volkswagen CC and Touareg Models with Emergency Key

Unlocking Volkswagen CC or Touareg with dead key fob 

If you have a Volkswagen trim level that is a CC or Touareg, you can access the emergency key that is part of your key fob. There is a button that is located on the side of the key fob. When pressed, the key fob will poke through. You simply have to grab the loop to free the key and unlock your door. You can also start the vehicle with this key.

If you find that your push-button start isn't working and your battery is low on power, hold your key fob directly against the steering column. Simply press the start button that is located right by your shift knob.
