Camelback Volkswagen's 2015 Beetle Review and Research
No car on the market today is as recognizable as the Volkswagen Beetle. Since its inception in the early 1960s, the VW Bug - as it became affectionately known - is the go-to car for drivers who want a unique auto that is comfortable and fun to drive. This year, the 2015 Beetle is getting a new "Classic" trim level, as well as a newly standard rearview camera and a slight power increase on its optional diesel engine.
A four-person, two-door hatchback, the 2015 Beetle is available in two body styles: coupe and convertible. Both body styles offer the same three trim levels, which correspond with three engine options. The three trim levels offered on the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle in Phoenix include 1.8T, R-Line and TDI. The 1.8T trim comes with the new Classic sub-trim.
Looking first at the 1.8T trim, this base trim comes with several standard amenities, including 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, an eight-speaker sound system, an iPod interface and heated windshield-washer nozzles. The 1.8T Classic trim gets lumbar adjustment for the front seats, satellite radio, a navigation system and unique upholstery.
Upgrade to the Beetle R-Line and you'll add a sport-tuned suspension, unique cloth upholstery, a rear spoiler, sport seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, a performance gauge, alloy pedals and faux carbon-fiber accents. Our 2015 VW Beetle review really loved the TDI trim on the Bug, thanks to its impressive list of standard features, such as a touchscreen audio interface, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry/ignition and exterior chrome accents.
Looking now at the engine options available on each trim. The VW Beetle 1.8T comes with a 170 hp 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Beetle R-Line is powered by a 210 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four, while the Beetle TDI boasts a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder that rates at 150 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque.
