Camelback Volkswagen Shows Off the New Volkswagen Beetle
The Volkswagen Beetle's got more nicknames than Beyonce and likely just as many fans, too. This year, its legacy continues and, like Beyonce, it's proving that it can always stay on trend. The iconic Bug returns to the Valley of the Sun this year with a new trim lineup, added paint colors, upgraded infotainment, and unique all-new Dune and Denim editions.
Shoppers who purchase the 2016 VW Beetle in Phoenix can now select from 1.8T and R-Line models which come in S, SE and SEL trim levels. The new base S trim offers great value for entry-level buyers, with features like an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather covered steering wheel, keyless entry, heated mirrors, and Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone and Audio Streaming.
Again this year, Beetle is offered as a hatchback or a convertible with a power-retractable soft top, which is the ideal choice for sun seekers. No matter the body style or trim level selected, 2016 VW Beetle reviews say shoppers can expect ample amenities. This statement also applies to the exclusive Beetle Denim and Dune editions that are making a special appearance in the lineup for 2016. The Dune is offered in both body styles and comes with unique wheel designs, side moldings and bumpers, along with a higher ground clearance than the other models; while the Denim is offered as a convertible with a unique fabric top that resembles denim, light blue denim-colored cloth seating and jeans-inspired seat pockets.
As far as what's under the hood, Edmunds.com editors say their "fond" of both of the lineup's engines. Powerplants include a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that creates 170 hp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 210 hp and 207 pound-feet of torque. When you come test drive a 2016 VW Beetle in Phoenix, Arizona, try out each engine to see which best suits your taste.
The 1.8-liter unit is standard on 1.8T models and offers an EPA-estimated 28 mpg combined (25 city/34 highway). Choose the 2.0L engine, equipped on R-Line models, and you'll get an EPA-estimated 23 city/31 highway mpg with the six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission or 24 city/31 highway mpg with the optional six-speed manual.
