Guess which young and famous billionaire owns a black Volkswagen GTI. Hint: In spite of his young age there's already a movie about him, in which he is portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg may be a billionaire, but apparently his spending habits aren't too far off from your average American. He could buy any ridiculously priced car - a Ferrari, Tesla or Bugatti - and instead chooses to drive a black Volkswagen GTI with manual transmission. Which also means he's a stick guy. Surprise, surprise.
While Zuckerberg's car choice is unexpected, it's still a smart one - for billionaires or you and I. The GTI has made Car and Driver's 10Best Cars list several times and that includes the current 2014 model. According to the publication's editors, it's a "little comet [that] still defines the hot-hatch class it created way back in 1976." Additionally, U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the 2014 VW GTI No. 1 in the upscale small car class based on test drives, published reviews and safety data.
As Zuckerberg has proved, the car's "classy, practical and fun" (Edmunds.com) personality is not solely appealing to those within a certain income bracket. Whether rich or middle class, GTI buyers are purely savvy shoppers who value lively performance, great fuel economy, hatchback versatility and sporty looks.
