Owners of iPhone and Android devices can now happily, safely and seamlessly use their mobile devices while on route with Volkswagen’s new App-Connect technology. When paired with a compatible smartphone, App-Connect gives drivers access to their smartphone apps, calling, maps and much more. Convenient steering-wheel integrated controls and advanced voice recognition technology amplify the experience by enabling drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
In the video below, titled “Party,” App-Connect’s abilities are humorously highlighted by a few actors you may know, including Adam Scott from “Parks and Recreation,” Christopher Mintz-Plasse from “Superbad,” and Michael Peña who’s starred in movies like “Crash” and “American Hustle.”
Along with Apply Carplay and Android Auto, Volkswagen’s new App-Connect interface is also compatible with MirrorLink. As far as when you’ll see App-Connect in VW’s cars - that starts now! The technology is first being offered on the new 2016 Tiguan, which we already have on the lot here at Camelback Road and 15th Street. The 2016 Golf R will also be among the first Volkswagens available with App-Connect as well, then it will be rolled out to several other 2016 models following this.
Now that you know a little bit about the system, check out how App-Connect works in the video below!
