The brand-new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is the newest edition to the Golf lineup. Like its siblings, which include the base Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R and Golf SportWagen, the new Alltrack has earned a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The NHTSA runs the government's New Car Assessment Program, which provides crashworthiness assessments designed to help car shoppers with their buying decisions. Front, side and rollover crash tests are included in the evaluations and overall safety scores are on a 1-5 scale. The new 2017 Golf Alltrack received the highest rating possible, proving its ability to help keep passengers protected in the event of a collision.
Alltrack features a number of standard safety systems, such as numerous airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Automatic Post-Collision Braking and 4Motion all-wheel drive. Driver-assist technologies are also available, like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and other smart systems.
Along with the entire Golf family, other Volkswagen models have also received a 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA, including the VW Passat, Jetta and Beetle coupe.
“Volkswagen is thrilled that the Golf Alltrack [comes to market] having earned the highest 5-star overall crash test rating from the government,” said Joerg Sommer, Vice President Product Marketing and Strategy, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “The Alltrack was already highly anticipated, thanks to the combination of SportWagen design and all-wheel-drive performance, so this rating will add to the vehicle’s appeal.”
