Volkswagen of America, Inc. recently announced that they are entering into the world of generative AI within their myVW mobile app through a partnership with Google Cloud. The automobile manufacturer uses Google Cloud's AI and machine learning capabilities to power their new myVW Virtual Assistant and provide vehicle owners with intuitive access to critical information and services.

This new feature is available to MY24 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicle owners. It allows drivers to use Gemini models on Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform to access their vehicles' owners' manuals quickly or find information about dashboard warning lights or even how to change a flat tire. They can also use Gemini's multi-modal capabilities to see helpful information about indicator lights simply by pointing their smartphone cameras at their dashboards.

In order to make sure that the Virtual Assistant provides up-to-date and accurate information at any time, Volkswagen has worked closely with Google Cloud throughout the app's development. This comprehensive support ensures that the myVW app not only meets all of Volkswagen's high standards but delivers a unique experience for every user.

Most MY20 and newer Volkswagen vehicle owners will be able to use the myVW app starting in 2025. The app is currently available in the Apple Store and the Google Play Store, so you should be able to use it no matter what kind of smartphone you have.
