Like most people, you're probably used to seeing Volkswagen cars on the road. Now, you'll be able to see your favorite models, along with Volkswagen classics, at a new special exhibit celebrating Volkswagen in America.

Volkswagen is partnering with the Simeone Foundation Auto Museum in Philadelphia, PA, to produce a special exhibit showcasing Volkswagen's 75th year of producing autos in the United States. The exhibit, which runs through Jan. 12, 2025, is a collection of Volkswagen's most iconic models. The exhibit also shows important milestones in Volkswagen's history of auto production in the U.S.

While the exhibit takes visitors back to Volkswagen's earliest days in the country by highlighting classic models, visitors can also get a glimpse of the automaker's future. The Volkswagen ID.Buzz, a new electric vehicle from Volkswagen, is featured at the exhibit. Other Volkswagen models visitors can see include a vintage 1949 Beetle, a 1967 Volkswagen bus with 21 windows, and a Volkswagen GTI from 1984. In addition to seeing classic Volkswagen cars on display, the exhibit also contains information about each vehicle displayed to give visitors a history of each car and learn how those models have helped shape Volkswagen's history and the U.S. car culture.

About Volkswagen

Although the special exhibit highlights popular Volkswagen models in the U.S., the automaker originated in Germany. Volkswagen was established in Germany in the early 1930s under the name “Volkswagen Group.” In Germany and later in the U.S., the company earned a reputation for producing practical and affordable vehicles. The name “Volkswagen” translates to “the people's car,” and for many years, Volkswagen dominated the auto scene in its home country. The company's cars proved popular with fans worldwide, too, which led to Volkswagen's growth in markets abroad.

Volkswagen's flagship car, the Beetle, is its most iconic model. However, the automaker now produces a much wider range of cars to meet the needs of contemporary audiences, including sedans and SUVs. Some of its most popular models in the U.S. are the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport, Golf, ID.4, Jetta, Tiguan, and Taos. Volkswagen's main production facility in the U.S. is located in Tennessee.
