2023 Volkswagen Tiguan vs 2023 Volkswagen Taos
Volkswagen's SUVs have a sporty individuality not available from any other automaker. They prefer clean door panels and hoods with deeply etched lines to top off the clean look. The result is a lot of body color and some really interesting grille designs from the VW brand. The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan and Taos is a more compact version of VW's SUV designs. On some features, these two are worlds apart, but the basic blueprint of Volkswagen detail and performance are present in both models.
Performance
The larger Tiguan comes with a 2.0L turbocharged engine rated at 184 horsepower. It has a 16-valve design. The 2023 Volkswagen Taos features a 1.5L turbocharged engine rated at 158 horsepower. Size plays a big part in aerodynamics and how much an engine moves a vehicle, but the fact that Volkswagen gives both the Tiguan and Taos a turbocharged engine says how much these models mean to people. You'll get turbocharged performance no matter which you choose. Transmissions are different on both models, too. The Taos comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission, and the Tiguan gets an 8-speed automatic.
Appearance
You'll notice distinct differences in the front end of the Tiguan and Toas. The Tiguan's thicker, three-bar-styled grille is in contrast to the single-bar style of the Taos. The Taos also gets a more body-colored bumper. Standout Tiguan exterior features include its standard LED headlamps and taillamps, 20" alloy wheels and all-season tires (SEL R-Line), and illuminated scuff plates (SE R-Line Black). The Taos boasts 19" alloy wheels and all-season tires and a standard power tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof on its SEL trim.
Features
The Tiguan's interior seats up to seven people, and that's two more than the Taos's five seats. Driver-assist features vary between the models, too, and include features like Dynamic Road Sign Display, that's standard on the fully loaded Tiguan. The base model of the Tiguan also comes with a front assist and blind spot monitor, a feature that's optional in the Taos lineup. The Tao's boldest feature is a 10.25-inch VW Digital Cockpit touchscreen display. The Tiguan gets an 8-inch touchscreen standard on the base model. It has a standard 10.25-inch display on its fully loaded trim.
