Specs at a Glance

The cozy, comfortable Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is back with a new edition in 2025, boasting not one but two eloquent but simple early trims: the SE and SEL. Either of these models will give you reliable performance, creature comforts, and efficiency. Each of these models has distinct differences that customers should investigate before deciding.

Performance

The Atlas Cross Sport has a turbocharged engine rated at 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The SE and SEL will both have this engine installed. An 8-speed automatic transmission handles transitions for both trims. Where the SEL differs is in its 4MOTION all-wheel drive with active control. You'll get more stability out of the SEL, but the SE is still a great choice and smoother than the competition.

Appearance

Volkswagen is fantastic at giving base trim buyers a reason to stick with the base model for great savings. The SE trim boasts 18" alloy wheels with steady all-season tires, automatic LED headlamps and daytime running lamps, and silver roof rails (both practical and attractive). SEL trims dress up a little more, though. They're equipped with 20" machined alloy wheels, all-season tires, a sliding panoramic sunroof, and a convenient trailer hitch. Atlas Cross Sport design is more modern in its current edition and features nice touches like a blacked-out grille with LED lighting surround and deep-tinted windows for those who prefer those.

Features

The Atlas Cross Sport boasts V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, Climatronic dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated front seats. SEL trims come with leather seating surfaces, a 12-inch touchscreen navigation display, and a heated second row. Atlas Cross Sport models are known for their advanced driver-assist features, something Volkswagen puts great focus on and effort into. Their Digital Cockpit Pro makes it easy to customize your features on an attractive multi-color display so that you can keep track of everything. Technologies like a head-up display and Front Assist are standard on the SE and SEL. Travel Assist, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist are standard on both trims. Only the SEL comes with standard Park Distance Control for both front and rear areas of the model, though.
