Specs at a Glance

The Volkswagen Tiguan is a sharp-looking small SUV that is comfortable, provides great value, and is fun to drive. This year, the Tiguan model has a refreshed design and includes more features than before. Two trims to consider in the lineup are the base trim, called the S, and the SE. The SE is a mid-level range with more components and premium touches without breaking the bank.

Performance

Along with the Volkswagen Tiguan's refreshed appearance in 2025 comes a revamped mechanical system. You have a choice of either all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive with the S and the SE trim levels, which translates to some variation in torque. Powering both models is a 2.0L turbo engine that produces 201 horsepower. The all-wheel drive configuration produces 221 pound-feet of torque, while front-wheel drive gives you 207 pound-feet of torque. Both the S and SE trims have a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.

Appearance

The Volkswagen Tiguan S and SE both have a stylish and upscale cabin. However, some exterior differences set them apart at first glance. With the S comes standard LED headlights, which you'll also get with the SE. The S has 17-inch wheels that have an alloy finish, and it also has rain-sensing windshield wipers. Heated side mirrors are standard. The SE has slightly bigger 18-inch wheels that are also made of alloy. However, this trim level adds a power liftgate. You can also add a panoramic sunroof to the SE.

Features

Numerous features come with the S and SE. This year, both trims benefit from an upgraded interior appearance with more high-end materials and new technology. Starting with the S, you'll get a standard 12.9-inch touchscreen interface and a digital instrument display. Wireless phone charging is standard, with a cooling system that keeps your phone from getting too hot while charging. There are numerous USB charging ports with the S as well, and it has a seven-speaker stereo system. With the SE comes some added perks, such as customizable interior lighting. This model also has climate-controlled seats and upgraded synthetic leather upholstery. Remote engine start is also included with the SE, and it features a voice control system.

For safety, you'll get forward collision mitigation, blind-spot warning, blind-spot intervention, adaptive cruise control, emergency assist, and lane-keeping assist.
