The all-new 2027 Volkswagen Atlas is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. This three-row SUV returns with more power, a redesigned upscale interior, and a striking new look. While there are multiple Atlas trim levels available, some drivers will be choosing between the SE and SE with Technology trims. Here’s an overview of how these two trims compare.
Performance
These trims use the same updated 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood. Output has increased to 282 horsepower, making it the most powerful Atlas ever. An eight-speed automatic transmission helps ensure smooth and responsive performance. While front-wheel drive comes standard, Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system is optional.
In contrast to the SE trim, the SE with Technology trim comes standard with a factory-installed trailer hitch. This upgrade enables you to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Appearance
Expect the SUV’s bolder exterior styling to immediately catch your attention. The Atlas SE features a distinctive front fascia with double-stacked LED headlights. An attractive set of 18-inch machined alloy wheels adds visual appeal to the Atlas SE. Popular exterior colors are also available, including Deep Black Pearl and Opal White Pearl.
To give the SE with Technology a more athletic stance, VW outfits it with larger 20-inch alloy wheels. Twin LED front light bars and an illuminated VW badge add more style.
Features
The feature-rich Atlas SE brings a lot of value to the table. It surrounds you with high-tech goodies, including a 12.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster. Premium amenities, such as ergonomic heated and ventilated front seats and tri-zone automatic climate control, enhance cabin comfort. Meanwhile, VW’s IQ.DRIVE driver-assistance suite gives you an extra sense of security while behind the wheel. Other highlights include leatherette seating surfaces, a nine-speaker audio system, a heated steering wheel, and a power liftgate.
The SE with Technology trim steps up to an even larger 15.0-inch touchscreen. While extended 10-color ambient interior lighting helps create a relaxing mood, a 115-volt power outlet in the second row allows your family to plug in and power standard AC electronic devices. Remote engine start via the key fob and a hands-free "Easy Open & Close" liftgate are also included.
