How Often Should I Service My Volkswagen Jetta?

If you want to keep your Jetta performing at its best, it's important to consult your owner's manual for the recommended service maintenance intervals and schedule a service appointment when your odometer reaches certain recommended mileage markers. If you don't drive as often, or tend to drive shorter distances, then it's recommended to at least have your Jetta serviced annually. Below we've listed standard intervals and what you can expect when you service your VW with our team. Keep in mind for diesel TDI models, additional maintenance could be required. If you need assistance relating to this, give our team a call and we will be happy to walk you through any necessary additional maintenance requirements.

Every 10,000 Miles

Each time your Jetta drives 10,000 miles you should expect to have the engine oil and filter changed. Depending on your driving habits and other factors, the brakes and tires should also be inspected to see if they require replacement. Features like the wipers and headlights should also be checked to ensure they're working properly.

Every 20,000 Miles

At each 20,000-mile checkpoint, a repeat of services performed at the previous service interval will be revisited, including an inspection of the tires, brake pads, and an oil and filter change. Additional components of the braking system may also be insected such as the shock absorbers and any signs of leaking. The battery should also be tested to ensure its charge is optimal for what your Jetta needs.

Every 40,000-Mile Service

Upon reaching every 40,000-mile mark, several additional services will need to be performed. Your Jetta may need its brakes and brake fluid replaced if they haven't already been changed. Coolant and the transmission fluid should be inspected as well in case they need to be flushed. Also, because of the large amount of dust and dirt in the air here in Phoenix, air filters of your Jetta may need to be replaced.

Every 80,000-Mile Service

Each 80,000-mile mark may consist of more comprehensive services and inspections for your Jetta. Many services that were performed at the 40,000-mile mark will need to be repeated, and parts like hoses, spark plugs, power steering fluid, and the timing belt may also need to be replaced if necessary.
