What's New For The 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?

With the Atlas first arriving in 2018, you might not think the 2019 model would have significant changes. You'd be surprised, though. The trim hierarchy for the 2019 model has received significant updates.

The Launch Edition from 2018 is no longer on the market for 2019. It has been replaced by the R-Line Atlas. In total, there are seven trim options.

Certain features have been made standard across all trims. You have frontal assistance that provides forward-collision warnings and automatically brake in emergencies. You also have automatic headlights, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, a blind-spot monitor, and rear traffic alert when you back up.

Some trims have received minor upgrades, as well. The Volkswagen Digital Cockpit is now available in both the SEL and SEL Premium, as opposed to just the SEL Premium. The SE trim has triple-zone automatic climate controls.

2019 Atlas Trims & Features

There are seven trims: S, SE, SE Technology, SE Technology R-Line, SEL, SEL R-Line, and the SEL Premium.

The Standard Model has a combined MPG of 24 and a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. It also comes with front-wheel drive and 8-speed automatic transmission. A 4-wheel drive version is also available.

If you upgrade to the V6 Standard, you'll get a more powerful 3.6-liter engine along with 4-wheel drive, with a combined MPG of 19. The R-Line models have a more powerful engine, while the SEL Premium provides ultimate luxury.

All Atlas trims give you a comfortable and luxurious-feeling ride. The vehicle's biggest selling point is its spacious interior. It's more spacious than almost any other vehicle in its class, comfortably fitting 7 people without a problem.

2019 Volkswagen Atlas Horsepower

2019 Volkswagen AtlasThe Atlas is available with two different engines. The 2.0 turbo engine has been rated at 235 horsepower with a torque of 258 lb-foot.

For this model year, the SE and SEL versions are no longer available with the 2.0 engine. If you want the 2.0 engine, you'll need to purchase the S trim. All other trims come standard with the more powerful engine.
