What's New For the 2019 Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition?

The Volkswagen Beetle is bidding Auf Wiedersehen to the world. The iconic vehicle, whose advertising beckoned car buyers to "think small," ends production this year with its farewell iteration, the 2019 Beetle Final Edition. Here are some of the Final Edition's features that you can personally check out at Camelback Volkswagen.

Honoring the car's 80-year run, Volkswagen is offering the 2019 Beetle Final Edition in two special models, the Final Edition SE and the Final Edition SEL. The new Bug comes in either classic coupe or convertible, with two trim levels, two distinctive new retro body colors and loads of dazzling chrome throughout.

Other 2019 upgrades encompass cool tech and safety advances including driver assistance features and a state-of-the-art infotainment center. In the tank, the Beetle Final Edition delivers remarkable miles-per-gallon economy.

2019 Beetle Final Edition Trims and Features

The 2019 Beetle Final Edition color schemes take their cues from the tan and blue paint schemes of the classic 2003 Última Edición ("last edition" of air-cooled Beetles). The Final Edition kicks those retro colors up a notch with a candy-coating of Safari Uni Beige and Stonewashed Blue. Platinum Grey, Pure White and Deep Black Pearl are also available.

Both the SL and the SEL flaunt diamond-stitched upholstery. The SL showcases leatherette and cloth seats, and the SEL has genuine leather seats. Seats in both models are heated, and the interior benefits from dual climate control.

Additionally, this Beetle has several fun retro elements. The gauges hearken back to classic Beetle dashboards, along with a Käferfach glove box (also called a "Beetle bin"), a small storage compartment above the main glove box. The classic, streamlined "Beetle" badge can be swapped out for a customized badge emblazoned with a personalized nickname.

SE models stylishly spin on 17-inch, 15-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels, and SEL models are decked out in 18-inch retro chrome disk wheel covers. A power tilting/sliding panoramic sunroof adds a touch of the outdoors to your drive.

There is an interesting array of tech goodies inside the Beetle Final Edition. The SE satisfies your entertainment appetite via a Composition Media infotainment system with Bluetooth and VW Car-Net Smartphone synchronization. The SEL rocks a Fender Premium Audio System that cranks out 400 watts of pure power and a Discover Media system with navigation.

A three-month trial SiriusXM subscription is also available. Other new trims are customizable three-color ambient lights that illuminate the interior.

The Bug is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine that generates 174 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

It boasts excellent fuel economy at 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway. The Beetle Final Edition has spunky pickup, making it a heck of a lot of fun to drive.

Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition Safety

2019 Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition Exterior RearThe Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition is chock full of safety features. The SE offers blind spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert. The SEL is equipped with a front and rear parking distance camera. The Intelligent Crash Response System turns off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors and triggers the hazard lights.

Drivers are also protected by an automatic post-collision braking system, as well as Bi-Exenon high-intensity headlights with LED daytime running. Keyless pushbutton entry and start eliminate unsafe and time-consuming fumbling for keys.
