What's New For the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas?

In 2020, the ever-popular Volkswagen Atlas marks its second anniversary. Since the Atlas is still a comparatively new face on the market, it does not get significant changes in 2020. Nevertheless, Volkswagen gave it minor changes. Now, the Atlas gets a four-year or 50,000-mile warranty. You can also get a two-year maintenance plan free of charge. There are a few minor tweaks and changes to the standard and available amenities offered across the lineup, too.

This includes the addition of more standard safety technology in certain trims and a boost to creature comforts and amenities. Now, the WiFi hotspot is standard in the base trim. You'll also get Volkswagen's cutting-edge infotainment system called Car-Net 2.0. Some trim-specific changes await consumers, too. This includes standard 20-inch wheels on the SE with Tech. The SE with R-Line gets parking sensors in reverse and a liftgate that opens with the swipe of your foot. The SEL Premium, which is the top-of-the-line Atlas, now gets standard 21-inch wheels.

What Features are Available for 2020?

The base lineup of the Volkswagen Atlas includes the S, SE, and SEL. However, there are many variants and add-on packages among the trims. Essentially, you can get very different versions of the same models depending on the package you choose. The base model comes standard with several enjoyable amenities. This includes a 6.5-inch infotainment display screen with Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The base sound system features six speakers. Progressing to the SE, which is the mid-level trim, you upgrade to a larger eight-inch infotainment display screen.

While the base trim provides one USB charging port, the SE has four USB charging outlets strategically located throughout the cabin. The SE also has three-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and remote start capabilities. You can select several packages for this trim, including a panoramic sunroof package, captain's chairs for the back row, a tow hitch, and 20-inch custom alloy wheels. The top of the line this year is the SEL. This trim gets navigation as part of its infotainment system. It also comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, which is only available in other trims. An overhead view camera and custom Volkswagen digital cockpit are other highlights of the SEL.

The second engine, which is a V6, produces slightly more power at 276 HP. It can be ordered with all-wheel drive and 4Motion, which gives you a variety of select driving modes to enhance the SUV's performance in a range of conditions. An automatic transmission is standard.
