What's New For the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta?

The Volkswagen Jetta was fully redesigned in 2019. Therefore, it doesn't get any earth-shattering changes for the 2020 model year. Most of the changes that you will find, however, are some changes to feature availability on a trim-by-trim basis. More safety features are standard this year. Wireless charging, a new offering, is optional on select trim levels.

This year, Volkswagen simplified its trims slightly to emphasize value. Each trim level features a plethora of standard options and a host of available amenities, too. Bringing the wave of auto technology to the future, most trims in the Jetta lineup also come equipped with a Car-Net telematics system. Most trims also have standard WiFi. With seven trim levels to choose from, you're bound to find a Volkswagen Jetta that's just right for you.

2020 Jetta Has Abundant Features

This year, the Volkswagen Jetta comes in seven trims. The base trim is called the S. It is followed by the SE, the SE with technology, the SE R-Line, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium R-Line. The S has a number of enticing features, including LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, and an infotainment system that supports app connectivity. The SE builds on that list with a standard push-button start and a panoramic sunroof. It also has more standard safety technology.

The SE with technology can be equipped with several packages, including a cold-weather package that includes a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, heated wipers, and nozzle washers. The SE R-Line gets two-tone leatherette seats. It also has larger 17-inch wheels and fog lights. The next trim, which is the SEL, features an innovative Volkswagen digital cockpit. It also has an amped-up sound system and ambient lighting with ten colors. The SEL R-Line gets larger 21-inch standard wheels. The Premium R-Line adds on the works with a standard eight-inch infotainment system with navigation and leather seats.

VW Jetta Performance

2020 Volkswagen JettaThe 2020 Volkswagen Jetta is powered by one engine across the board. The engine in this year's Jetta is a 1.4L with four cylinders. It produces up to 147 HP and 184 LB-FT of torque. With its turbocharged capacity, the engine shows that it is small but mighty. The engine is paired with an automatic transmission. It has drive mode select capabilities with the option of Eco, Sport, Normal, and Custom driving modes so that you're always in control of your driving experiences. Advanced braking technology instantly applies pressure to the brakes as needed to deliver more accurate turning.

VW Jetta Safety In the Forefront

2020 Volkswagen JettaSafety has always been a priority in the Jetta, but that's more the case in 2020 than ever before. The 2020 Jetta has a rigid steel safety cage with crumple zones that help it absorb and deflect energy from a crash. The Jetta is also equipped with an intelligent crash response system that unlocks the doors and turns off the fuel pump in case of a crash. Driver-assist aids are numerous on all trims. They include rear traffic alert, lane assist, forward distance assist, blind-spot monitoring, and light assist. Adaptive cruise control is also a valuable safety amenity.
