What's New For the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Those in the market for a new compact SUV will want to check out the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan. There is a brand new trim to consider this year, known as the SE R-Line Black. On top of adding more features than the trims before it, this model has a unique look thanks to touches such as the 20" dark wheels. This year, the vehicle gains a standard WiFi hotspot. More standard driver aids can be found on all trim levels as well, including a blind spot monitoring system and forward collision alert complete with automatic emergency braking.

What are the VW Tiguan Trims & Features?

With the addition of the SE R-Line Black, drivers now have five great trim levels to choose from when it comes to the Tiguan. The entry-level model S is well-equipped with an App-Connect feature as well as a 6.5" touchscreen. Moving up to the SE gives the Tiguan an 8" touchscreen and a wireless charging pad. The SE R-Line Black adds stylish exterior touches, fog lights, and a panoramic sunroof. As for the SEL, it adds navigation and remote start. The top-of-the-line SEL Premium gets the Volkswagen digital cockpit and an upgraded Fender audio system.

Raw Power and Stellar Performance

2020 Volkswagen TiguanA turbocharged 1.4L engine powers all models. It produces 184-horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Working alongside this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission. While front-wheel-drive is standard, 4MOTION® all-wheel drive is available on all trim levels. This advanced system determines where power is needed the most to provide drivers with superior traction. Drivers can choose from several different driving modes, including snow, on-road, and off-road.

The 2020 Tiguan has a Long List of Safety Features

2020 Volkswagen TiguanThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has named the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan a Top Safety Pick. This is thanks in part to its standard blind-spot monitoring and automated emergency braking. Also standard is an automatic post-collision braking system. In the event of an accident that does not bring the vehicle to a complete stop, this system kicks in to reduce the risk of an additional impact. Also, standard across the board is a tire pressure monitoring system.

The SEL and SEL Premium trim levels add adaptive cruise control to the Tiguan. Available on certain trims is a feature called as light assist, which can automatically turn on the high beams when appropriate if the vehicle is moving more than 37MPH. Other available options include an overhead camera view, lane-keeping assist, and a park distance control complete with maneuver braking.
