What's New for the 2027 Volkswagen Golf R?
For the 2027 model year, Volkswagen bolsters the Golf R lineup by reintroducing the stealthy Black Edition trim. It flaunts a number of blacked-out treatments, including smoked headlight housings and 19-inch black alloy wheels with matching brake calipers.
What Are the 2027 Golf R Trims & Features?
This high-performance hatchback is offered in two trims: the standard Golf R and the returning Black Edition.
Several premium features come standard. Customizable digital performance gauges make it easy to view key vehicle data, while climate-controlled leather sport seats ensure all-day comfort on the street or track. Other standard equipment includes a larger 12.9-inch Discover Pro touchscreen with ChatGPT-enhanced voice control, wireless charging, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and navigation.
If you prefer an aggressive dark aesthetic, the Golf R Black Edition is bound to get your adrenaline pumping. It comes loaded with the same core features.
Both trims offer a weight-saving Euro Style package. It adds a titanium Akrapovič exhaust, eliminates the sunroof, and swaps the standard power seats for manual sport seats trimmed in suede-like microfiber and cloth inserts.
How Much Horsepower Does the 2027 Golf R Have?
Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter, R-tuned turbocharged four-cylinder engine. VW rates it at an exciting 328 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed DSG automatic transmission with paddle shifters adds to the fun. You can also take advantage of the standard R-Performance 4Motion all-wheel drive system, which gives the car a serious agility boost. Meanwhile, Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) enables you to adjust suspension stiffness through various modes.
What Safety Features Does the 2027 Golf R Include?
IQ.Drive, a suite of advanced safety technologies, comes standard on the new Golf R. Highlights include Adaptive Cruise Control, an Active Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist, and Lane Assist.
