  Volkswagen of America has partnered with KONG and VCA Charities to launch a limited edition VW KONG For a Cause dog toy inspired by the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The toys will be available while supplies last, and one toy will be donated to a local shelter for every toy purchased.
KONG is widely recognized as a popular dog toy brand, but it has more in common with Volkswagen vehicles than people know. The classic KONG toy originated in an auto repair shop in the 1970s when auto mechanic Joe Markham found his German Shepherd Fritz playing with a spare rubber axle stop from a Volkswagen Type 2 Bus. Fritz had a bad habit of chewing on rocks and sticks, so Joe designed the first KONG toy around the axle stop to give Fritz something safer to chew on.
This charity event was to commemorate National Puppy Day on March 23rd of this year and to celebrate the launch of the all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, the KONG For a Cause toy, will be available in the electric bus's cabana blue color. The limited edition toy is available for $13.99 while supplies last through vw.com and drivergear.vw.com.
