Specs at a Glance

Thanks to the 2024 Volkswagen lineup, finding the right SUV is easier than ever. Choosing either the 2024 Taos or the 2024 Tiguan will give drivers the versatility, performance, and fun they are after. However, there are several differences between these two vehicles that are worth noting.

Performance

The Taos is the smallest SUV in the Volkswagen lineup. It utilizes a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine, making 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Being a bit larger, the Tiguan needs a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that creates 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive versions of the Taos and every Tiguan use an eight-speed automatic transmission. The All-wheel drive Taos goes with an athletic dual-clutch seven-speed automatic instead.

Appearance

Compact and sporty, the 2024 Taos is designed to turn heads. LED headlights, roof rails, and 17-inch alloy wheels are all among the standard features here. Going with the top SEL trim level means getting 19-inch alloy wheels and an illuminated grille bar. For most Tiguan trim levels, front-wheel drive and a third row of seating are standard. Going with all-wheel drive eliminates that third row. Regardless of the configuration, the new Tiguan comes with LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated side mirrors, and more.

Features

Both the Taos and the Tiguan provide plenty of luxury to drivers. For the Taos, standard features include a heated steering wheel, a digital instrument display, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Meanwhile, the Tiguan is home to things like heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a push-button start. Like the Taos, the Tiguan's infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Several standard features for the 2024 Taos and the 2024 Tiguan are included for the driver's safety. These SUVs have adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. They are also given blind-spot monitoring with the ability to help steer the SUV back into its lane if necessary.
