What's New For The 2019 Volkswagen Golf?
The 2019 Volkswagen Golf features a number of changes for the new model year. Most significantly, all front-wheel-drive Golfs will now feature a 147 horsepower 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine with improved fuel efficiency over the outgoing 1.8-liter model. The 2019 Volkswagen Golf also adds a standard six-speed manual and optional eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous five-speed manual and six-speed automatic. The 2019 Golf comes standard with an array of safety features on most models, including automatic emergency braking and a blind-spot monitor.

High-Tech Features
The 2019 Golf is available in three different body styles - a five-door hatchback, a spacious SportWagen, and the rugged Golf Alltrack wagon. The Golf hatchback is available in S and SE trims. The Golf S hatchback includes standard cloth seats, four-wheel disc brakes, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an adjustable armrest, a rearview camera, a USB port, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, and Volkswagen CarNet. The upper-trim Golf SE hatchback adds a moonroof, LED tail lights, 16-inch wheels, leatherette seating, and power front seats. Golf SportWagen is available in the same trim levels and contains the same standard features. Golf SportWagen can also be equipped with 4Motion All-Wheel-Drive. The top-of-the-line Golf Alltrack is similar to the Sportwagen but comes with standard all-wheel-drive and features a taller, more rugged appearance. The Alltrack is available in the same S, and SE trims as the hatch and Sportwagen with the same features, though the Alltrack S also features standard heated seats.
A Powerful Engine Built to Conquer
Golf hatchbacks and front-wheel-drive Sportwagens come standard with a peppy 147 horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 184 pound-feet of torque. This engine is new to the Golf for 2019 and is designed to improve the Golf's fuel economy. Golf Alltracks and all-wheel-drive Sportwagens retain the powerful 170 horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that also generates 184 pound-feet of torque. All Golfs are available with a quick-shifting six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Modern Safety Technology
The 2019 Golf comes standard with a wide range of safety features. For all trims except the Sportwagen S, the Golf comes with standard blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. Those features are optional on the Sportwagen S. All Golf trims include a standard rearview camera and LATCH tethers for easy car seat installation. All Golf SEs include adaptive cruise control as well to enhance driver safety further. In the event of a collision, the 2019 Golf features side curtain airbags. The Volkswagen Golf has received a five-star overall crash safety rating so you can rest assured that the Golf is one of the safest vehicles on the road.
