What's New for the 2018 Volkswagen Passat?

The 2018 Volkswagen Passat brings better fuel economy and more power, better fuel economy, and better standard features to the table, as well as an all-new GT trim. The entry level S trim has also been updated with an optional driver assistance package that includes features like forward-collision warning autonomous braking and blind spot monitoring. The all-new GT comes with dual exhausts, sport suspension, and sporty accents like red brake calipers, as well a standard V6 engine.

Additional packages can be mixed and matched to the driver's liking; for example, the SE can be had with the optional Technology Package, which includes hands-free trunk opening, a navigation system, fog lights, ambient lighting in the cabin, an 8-speaker audio system setup, an additional USB port, and heated rear seats. Horsepower and Powertrain Specs

2018 Volkswagen Passat RearThe updated 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generate 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This engine, which comes standard, is rated at 25/36 mpg city/highway, and is a major update from last year's 1.8-liter engine. Standard on the GT, and optional on all other trims, is the 280 horsepower 6-liter V6 engine, which generates 258 lb-ft of torque and clocks in at 20/28 mpg. The V6 unit also features a dual-clutch 6-speed automatic transmission, and offers a more sporty driving experience overall. Regardless of which engine is chosen, drivers can expect great performance, a solid and reliable driving experience, and much-improved fuel economy over last year's model.
